For Communicators

Developing the professional communicators on your staff is essential to your company’s future, especially as communicators are called upon to communicate more frequently and more directly with the public.

WGA offers a series of courses designed to help raise the effectiveness of everyone on your team who has regular interactions with the public, from your receptionist to your CEO.

The professional communicator courses we offer include:

EC-102   Public Relations Orientation Program – An introduction to the public relations function: generally, how it is practiced in China, where it is going, how to succeed. 3 hours.

EC-105   Communicating Across Cultures – An orientation program for Chinese professionals working in a multinational environment for the first time, and for international executives working with Chinese in an office environment for the first time. 3.5 hrs.

EC-106   Media Skills Train-the-Trainer Workshop – For experienced corporate communications professionals, a 1.5 day program designed to prepare agency executives to conduct superior media training programs for clients. 12 hours.

EC-120   Communications Strategy Workshop – A program designed to introduce PR professionals of all levels to the art of communications strategy, providing a clear definition of what strategic communications is, how it benefits clients, how to sell it, and how to improve strategic thinking skills. 4 hours

EC-121   Communications Campaign Workshop – After years of increasingly casual use by the advertising industry, the word “campaign” has become almost meaningless, leading most PR firms to develop plans that leap directly from strategy to tactics. The Communications Campaign Workshop revives the lost art of campaigning, helping trainees understand the vital role campaign thinking plays in delivering successful client programs, helping them create, sell, and deliver higher value, more profitable programs. 8 hours

EC-122   Selling Trust – Formerly our consultative selling program, this program is designed to help client leaders and managers rethink the selling process in a way that will help the client see your staff as trusted advisors almost from the outset of discussions, enabling you to raise the level and value of client engagements. 4 hours.

EC-130   Creative Tactics and Techniques – Teaches communications professionals to identify and enhance their hidden creative capabilities and learn how best to put those to work for clients in developing tactics for client programs and techniques for their delivery. 3 hours

EC-133   Writing for Public Relations – Designed for public relations professionals of all levels, provides insights into the challenges to writing for corporate communications, an overview of how to address those challenges, and a workshop focused on crafting an effective and powerful press release. 8 hours. Can also be delivered in two four-hour sessions, EC-132 Writing Skills Workshop, and EC-131 Press Release Writing Workshop.

EC-141   Executive Presentation Skills Training – A full-day program that focuses on building effective presentation skills, with a focus on the client pitch as a scenario. Designed for communications professionals seeking to prepare themselves for the challenge of presenting regularly in an effort to gain business from the presentation audience. 8 hours.

EC-142   Advanced Executive Presentation Skills – Designed for the communications professional seeking or facing opportunities to present his or her agency, clients, ideas, or cases in a public setting. Speaking in public remains mans’ greatest fear, so in addition to providing coaching on effective presentation skills, personal demeanour, and appearance, the program also provides instruction on the best use of slides, how to do without them, and overcoming nervousness before and during the speech. 8 hours.

EC-143   Briefing Senior Executives and Government Officials – Bringing senior client executives, academics, analysts, or government officials “up to speed” requires a set of skills that is similar – but different in very important ways – than other forms of public speaking. Personal mannerisms, organization, content, and flow are all far different from regular speaking, client pitches, or informal briefings. This program provides an in-depth preparation for effectively presenting to non-commercial audiences. 4 hours
